The Design

Badab-e Surt

High in the mountains south of Sari, mineral-rich springs have spent thousands of years building a staircase of terraced pools on the hillside. Iron deposits color them orange and red, creating a landscape that looks almost unreal at sunset. Badab-e Surt is one of the most remarkable natural monuments in Iran.

The Hyrcanian Forests

The forests of Mazandaran are part of the ancient Hyrcanian forests, among the oldest forests on Earth and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2019.

The Veresk Bridge

Opened in 1936 on the Trans-Iranian Railway, the Veresk Bridge crosses a deep gorge in the Alborz Mountains, about 110 meters above the valley floor. It is one of the most famous engineering achievements in Iran, and the Trans-Iranian Railway was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2021.

Between the Alborz and the Caspian

Mazandaran stretches from Mount Damavand, Iran’s highest peak, down to the shores of the Caspian Sea, with rice fields, orange groves and villages in between.
