The Design

Front: the snow-capped peak of Zard-Kuh above green slopes and falling water, finished with the province name.

Back: the Koohrang waterfall pouring from the mountainside between rocky Zagros cliffs, framed with ornaments inspired by Bakhtiari kilims.

Zard-Kuh: The Roof of the Zagros

Rising to more than 4,200 meters, Zard-Kuh (“the Yellow Mountain”) is one of the highest peaks of the Zagros range. Its snowfields and springs give birth to two of Iran’s most important rivers: the Karun, the country’s largest river, and the Zayandeh Rud, the river that gave life to Isfahan.

The Koohrang Waterfall

At the foot of Zard-Kuh, ice-cold water bursts straight out of the mountainside and tumbles down the rocks as the Koohrang waterfall. Surrounded by green pastures and nomad tents in summer, it is one of the most beloved natural sights in western Iran. Nearby, the Koohrang tunnels carry water through the mountains toward the Zayandeh Rud.

The Bakhtiari and Their Kilims

The Bakhtiari are one of Iran’s best-known nomadic peoples. For centuries, families have migrated twice a year with their flocks between summer and winter pastures, crossing rivers and mountain passes in one of the most remarkable seasonal migrations in the world. Their hand-woven kilims, with bold geometric patterns and warm natural colors, are treasured across Iran and around the world.
